

The top edges of the books are slightly dusty, otherwise a bright set of this classic of fantasy literature. One note of significance, The Return of the King shows the slipped type on page 49, but does not have a signature mark '4' on the page. An unusual four volume hardback set, matched in size and format. The Lord of the Rings are printed from copies of the Houghton Mifflin 2nd Ed, 4th/3rd/3rd impressions originally published in 1968. The Hobbit is a copy of the 25th printing, originally printed in 1968.

These are printed from the US copies published by Houghton Mifflin and show no authorization or permission to reprint. A wonderful and scarce collection of Tolkien's books, Pirated Editions, published by unknown printers, rather then the more common Taiwan editions published by The Bookcase Shop Ltd, Taipei. The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, these are later impressions of the Chinese or Taiwan Pirated Edition, in a Custom Black Leather Slipcase.
